Recently a woman received a 4 year sentence for killing 3 people. It’s ok to be straight too! Insane! This sentence makes no sense. Y’all need to quit disrespecting all flags weather it be the American flag or the pride flag if you don’t like it then no one caresīut we can burn an American flag? Hypocrisy Other than feelings, was anyone physically hurt to deserve 16 years of jail time? This on top of the fact that people with illegal narcotics are bing set free? LGBTQ is your choice, you have that right. Then all flags should be illegal to burn like for real. On another feed it said 15 years? Confused But setting the American Flag on fire is okay ?? and not considered a hate crime against America If it had been American flag he burn nobody would have said a damn thing. Probably a lot less for burning the American flag. Unbelievable ! I bet if somebody did that to an American flag these days nothing would happen !!!!! So sad People should get 15 years in prison for displaying the Confederate flag it is a hate crime against African-Americans and intelligence. Is because is from middle East, that flag is an evil flag 16 years? Wtf But you can burn the American flag, and get nothing! Iowa man sentenced to 16 years for setting LGBTQ flag on firePolice said Adolfo Martinez stole a pride banner hanging at Ames United Church of Christ and burned it outside the Dangerous Curves Gentleman’s Club. Hate laws are out of control and need to go. And your heart, down to the bone.?!! ? Outrageous. ? You done messed with tha wrong group mista.?!? Goin to get it. Actually we are just getting started with this stuff. But if we are going to punish him like that, then burning the American flag should be a death sentence while we are at it? While that was completely illegible and wrong, we all know the real reason this guy was sentenced to 15 years and it has nothing to do with the LGBTQ community.

I wonder what he would have gotten if he burned the American Flag? Sixteen years? You've got to be kidding me. A good attorney should be able to get him off the hook. 16 years? This is why I oppose hate crime laws. But thought crimes should NOT exist in America. RIDICULOUS!!!! This guy is a disgusting human, and should be prosecuted for destruction of property.

Strippers at Star Garden Topless Dive Bar in North Hollywood rallied Friday, trying to pressure the owners of Star Garden to recognize their newly created union. The websites mentioned at the beginning of this article served their readers poorly by failing to provide this crucial contextual information and created the false impression that anyone, in any circumstances, was liable to be imprisoned for 16 years for burning an LGBT rainbow flag in the state of Iowa.īut let's pretend he got 16 years for simply burning that flag and be appropriately outraged.Strippers in North Hollywood are unionizing, demand better working conditions Instead, because of his own previous convictions, his sentence for third-degree arson was tripled, from five years to 15 years. Without that criminal history, Martinez would simply have been given a sentence commensurate with a Class D felony, after the addition of the hate crime enhancement. However, that habitual offender mechanism would not have been triggered if Martinez did not already have two felony convictions. Because the hate crime enhancement converted the arson offense from an aggravated misdemeanor to a Class D felony, it also triggered the habitual offender mechanism. So it’s true that the fact it was an LGBT rainbow flag, specifically, did cause Martinez’ punishment to be increased. If the object Martinez burned had been a neutral one (for example, a banner or flag bearing the logo of a brand of beer) then his third-degree arson conviction would not have been enhanced as a hate crime, and he would have received a sentence of no more than two years in prison, likely yielding a total sentence of three years, taking into account the one-year sentence he received for reckless use of fire. However, this does not account for the length of his prison sentence. It’s true that the action that garnered Martinez a total prison sentence of 16 years was setting fire to an LGBT flag outside a bar in Ames, Iowa, in June 2019.
